About us
The German Association of Psychosocial Centres for Refugees and Victims of Torture (BAfF) is the umbrella organisation for centres, organisations and projects that specifically work in the area of social, psychological and medical care and treatment of refugees and survivors of organised violence.
We are committed to the protection of human rights, especially the right to life, physical integrity and health.
We help people who have experienced unimaginable suffering. Those who come to us are war victims, child soldiers and survivors of torture. Many are severely traumatised by their terrible experiences.
We encourage and support an extensive social responsibility for the displaced people and victims of human rights violations who are seeking refuge.
We carry out activities that reflect the common interests of all member organisations and that help to develop the impact and influence that individual organisations will have.Â
The registered association was founded in 1995 after a series of national meetings in which the idea of the creation of a German confederation of psychosocial centres was decided upon. In 2005 BAfF celebrated its tenth anniversary in the Rote Rathaus, Berlin.
